A very good read. Although it does still contain some jargon, and is very technical at times, it is the laypersons best opportunity to understand quantum physics and general relativity. That said, it is written with the layperson in mind. I'll admit, I did have trouble grasping some of the concepts introduced later in the book. Mr. Hawking does have a nice way of summarizing the jargon into something we can all understand.

In terms of the forest (as opposed to the trees discussed above), Hawking brings our attention face to face with some of the philosophical and spiritual questions that keep some of us up at night. What was the beginning of the universe like? What was before the beginning? Where does the universe end? What's beyond the end? Although I've had these questions for a long time, Hawking puts it in a way that cannot be ignored. It is both fascinating and terrifying at the same time. It is a different perspective on the universe and just how insignificant our part is within it.
